A small little part of Taipei

With a little time after work, randomly visited some places. The last time I was here was 2 years ago. It's a new experience altogether!

A Mao 阿毛 石鍋燉飯

Location:
45, Hanzhong Street, Wanhua District, Taipei
台北市萬華區漢中街45號

It's like Korean bibimbab but the toppings are different. They sells in sets.

A set is either TWD230 (with dessert) or TWD210 (without dessert).

Amao's Signature meat sauce 阿毛招牌肉醬

The rice is quite fragrant with tomato meat sauce but the garlic bread is not crispy. If it's crispy, it would be better and dipped into chicken soup.

The meal was accompanied by the restaurant's ambassador.

Taipei Night Market

There are many night markets around Taipei. You can really indulge yourself with alot of shopping and food. If you can go with many friends, the better because there's too much to eat but too little stomach space. Sigh~~~

The most famous night market to go is Shilin Night Market (Metro: Jiantan station), otherwise you can ask the hotel reception for the nearest night market or check out their local maps for recommendations. Generally, there are night markets everywhere.

Wufenpu 五分埔

A place that's famous for clothing shopping. If you're a shopaholic, you must go to this place near Houshanpi Metro Station.

Tamsui 淡水

This is a rather nice place to sightsee. It's about 40 minutes by subway from city centre to Tamsui Station. From the metro station, exit to your left. If you're there at sundown time, you can enjoy the sunset view.

This place is famous for these few things.

I recommend all of them at the following places:

1) Ah Gei and Fishball at A-Gei Restaurant on Zhenli Street.

A Gei is toufu with glass noodle on the inside and covered by fish paste, topped with a special sweet sauce. A must try!

Fishball has 3 layers of fish paste and meat. I'm not sure it's pork or beef but it's delicious!
2) Crunchy fish and iron egg at Grandma's Iron egg 阿婆铁蛋 on 135 Zhongzheng road (Old street) 中正路 (淡水老街).

If you are wondering how does iron egg taste like before buying, walk down the alley on the left of this shop, you will find a shop that allows tasting before buying.

To me, it tasted like a harder hard-boiled herbal egg without the herbal taste. Simplify as hard black egg.

3) Sour plum juice

You find it at many places but I find this shop sells a good taste one, A Ma's 阿妈的.

I also find some other tasty food.

4) Fried prawn dumpling, opposite of Grandma's iron egg.

Sunnyhill Pineapple Tart 微日山丘

Location:
1, Alley 4, Lane 36, Section 5, Minsheng East Road, Taipei.
台北市民生东路五段36巷4弄1号1楼

Hours: 10:00 - 20:00

Once you arrive, you can take your time, sit down to enjoy your tea and a piece of pineapply tart before purchasing.

This brand's pineapple tart is less sweet and it contains strips of pineapple instead of mashed paste in some of the other pineapple tarts. It's good.

This shop is frequently visited by many Japanese.

Here are the choices and prices.
